Everyone on the team is doing it for the kids, including Luis Casas, who works in our School-Based Services. Luis ran his first marathon ten years ago when he was in high school with Students Run L.A., a program with the goal of inspiring at-risk youth through their participation in the L.A. Marathon. He has not run a marathon since, but decided to this year to support Hathaway-Sycamores and inspire the youth that he works with in the Los Angeles Unified School District. Luis has been a Youth Specialist with Hathaway-Sycamores for about a year working with troubled children in the Los Angeles Unified School District.
Christopher Records will also be running in the marathon on Sunday for Team Hathaway-Sycamores. A special education teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District, Christopher has taught many Hathaway-Sycamores clients in his classroom over the years. He is well aware of all we do to help troubled youth and wanted to support the agency through the marathon.
Lucy Morales will be running in the Charity Relay of the L.A. Marathon. She ran the full marathon 8 years ago and decided to go back to running to support Hathaway-Sycamores, where she has worked for 13 years. Lucy wants to create more awareness of Hathaway-Sycamores and the work we do with children and families. Lucy’s twin sister will be running the full marathon, and they are looking forward to meeting up at the finish line to show off their medals!
