Thanks to a generous donation from the Los Altos Auxiliary, the boys – ages 6-18 – who receive therapeutic residential care at Hathaway-Sycamores’ El Nido campus are kicking back in a brand new, decked out Cyber Café.

What was formerly the cafeteria/lunch room has been transformed into a multi-media lounge replete with three new flat-screen TVs as well as the latest offerings in Xbox games. Other amenities include new furnishings, flooring, paint, cabinetry, and granite counters. These new digital digs are located adjacent to the library, where the resident boys can check out both books and laptops that they can bring to the Cyber Café. In addition to being a cool place to chill out, the new Café also will be purposeful, serving as a welcoming venue for one-on-one therapy sessions, group therapy, tutoring, and studying.

Commenting on this newly spiffed-up popular spot on the El Nido campus, Hathaway-Sycamores’ Rob Myers said, “The members of the Los Altos Auxiliary worked tirelessly this past year to raise funds for this new space that will undoubtedly provide the boys at El Nido with a fun, relaxing, and meaningful place to spend time. We can’t thank the Los Altos Auxiliary enough for their year-round support of the youngsters in our residential-care program. There’s no doubt,” he added, “that they truly brighten these boys’ lives.” Joe Ford, VP Residential Services, added, “The transformation of this new space provides a stronger sense of community for the boys and brings greater importance to gatherings and meal times. It has sparked and renewed our boys’ enthusiasm!”
