Hathaway-Sycamores' board member Linda WillettHathaway-Sycamores is saddened to report that Board Member Linda Brackins Willett passed away on July 29th. We will miss her energy, caring and compassion at Hathaway-Sycamores, she was a valuable member of our team.

Linda Brackins Willett died peacefully at her home in Pasadena, surrounded by family and friends. She was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in March 1945 and was always proud of her mid-western roots, but loved her life in California. Linda graduated from the University of Tulsa with a BA and JD. Between earning those degrees, she received a MA (History) from the University of Nebraska. She was awarded her LLM from Columbia University. Thereafter Linda taught law school at the University of Arkansas, Ohio Northern University and Southwestern Law School. At Southwestern, she taught Torts, Conflict of Laws, Women and the Law, Children and the Law, among other courses, and was faculty advisor to the Law Review.

Linda was always involved in civic affairs. She is past President of Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles. She was most recently active on the Women’s Committee for the Pasadena Symphony and held various roles in that organization. At her death, she was active and on the Board of Hathaway Sycamores, a charitable organization devoted to helping children and families experiencing difficulty. She was a founding member of the Legal Support Network for Amnesty International. She enjoyed music and had long been a supporter of LA Opera and looked forward to every season at the Hollywood Bowl and of the Pasadena Symphony. She was a committed fan of the Lakers and of the football teams at OU and UCLA.

Linda thoroughly loved being with her large, extended family. She enjoyed spoiling her children and her grandchildren and believed no child can be loved too much. Among her many joys were Christmases in Colorado, hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park, traveling to new places and discovering new adventures. Her friends will remember her caring spirit and her generosity.

She leaves her husband Bob, her daughter Sarah, her step-daughter Stephanie and her son Alex, her grandchildren Amelia and Nate, her older brothers Don and Terry and their families, and a loving network of friends and family.

Services will be at noon August 6 at The Church of Our Savior, 535 West Roses Road, San Gabriel. The family asks in lieu of flowers, please consider the Pasadena Symphony, 2 N. Lake Avenue, Pasadena, CA 91101 and Hathaway Sycamores, 210 S. De Lacey Avenue, Pasadena, CA 91105.
