Hathaway-Sycamores has been helping children, young adults and families in need for over a century. In fact this year we proudly celebrate 115 years of caring. As we begin this new year, many of those we serve are facing new challenges created by a changing landscape that is occurring locally, nationally and globally. Many are experiencing increased anxieties related to the stress and fear that such uncertainty creates. At Hathaway-Sycamores we remain steadfast in our mission of, “Cultivating hope and resilience to enrich the well-being of children, adults, families and communities.”
One of the great challenges every organization faces is how to confront the changing conditions in our world. We want to acknowledge that we understand that these changes are impacting our staff, our communities, and the youth we serve.
We also understand that we must rise to the challenges we face and set a higher standard that exemplifies our unified hope, dignity and resiliency; we must listen to one another; we must embrace our incredible diversity; and, we must remain focused on our mission. In many ways, these increasingly challenging times allow us to exercise our values and put our core principles into action.
Our staff are compassionate and committed to serving all of those individuals and families, no matter their faith, identity, country of origin, or any other status. Our goal has always been to alleviate suffering and instill hope among those who seek our services. We stand for respect, inclusivity and safety.
As we consider the future, we want to assure our supporters and partners that we are moving forward by encouraging actions that exercise innovation and advocacy to advance the field of community mental health and to secure our long-term financial viability.
We will stay focused on what is important; prioritizing the needs of children and young people through the highest standards of care…a key feature of Hathaway-Sycamores that will not change.
