Thank you to everyone who filled the holiday season with joy for the children, young adults and families at Hathaway-Sycamores! So many friends and supporters in the community spread good cheer and merriment through their generosity.

Holidays at Hathaway-Sycamores

Companies and individuals held toy drives, “adopted” families, donated cash and presents, threw holiday parties and staged performances for our children, young adults and families. And much to the delight of the boys, Los Altos Auxiliary even brought snow to our El Nido residential campus! Your kindness and generosity is inspiring and deeply appreciated. It is truly heartwarming to see the smiles that result from your giving.

The holiday season kicked off with a delicious Thanksgiving dinner for the young adults in our Transitional Living Program at NOOR. Some of the other festivities of the season included the Southern California Gas Company’s Annual Pancake Breakfast at El Nido for our foster families and the boys who live on campus. The Gas Company has been hosting the breakfast at El Nido for over 30 years, complete with a visit from Santa and presents for all the children. Longtime advocates of Hathaway-Sycamores, Linda and John Seiter, also continued their annual tradition of treating the boys who live at our residential campus to a special dinner out for Christmas Eve. The boys at El Nido also enjoyed a trip to Disneyland. At our Family Resource Center families gathered for the 4th Annual Family Holiday Party. In addition to the food, music and activities, all of the 160 plus children and youth in attendance received gifts. Thanks to two anonymous groups and Learning Lab Ventures there were nearly double the number of kids in attendance compared to last year. Out in Lancaster, Hathaway-Sycamores’ partnered with the SPA 1 Department of Mental Health and other mental health providers at the Lancaster SAAC Holiday Homeless Event. Thanks to the gifts from our donors, we were able to help assist 250 individuals and families at the event. Boxed lunches were provided and individuals were able to select from a variety of clothing, hygiene products, toys, and cold weather items such as blankets, sheets, hats and gloves. These are just some of the results of your kindness.
