Celebrating Children Awards Reception Honoring
Annette & Michael Madden
and
Southern California Gas Company
Hathaway-Sycamores Child and Family Services will be hosting the second annual Celebrating Children Awards Reception on Thursday, September 30, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The cocktail reception will be held at a local private residence. During the evening, guests will be treated to presentations from both the Hathaway-Sycamores Children’s Choir as well as a youngster currently receiving mental health services from the organization. The evening concludes with the presentation of the “Celebrating Children” Award.
The Celebrating Children Award is presented to individuals who exemplify the values of integrity, leadership and commitment to the wellbeing of children, adults, families, and communities. For over 100 years, these values have served as the foundation for the compassion and care that each and every child receives at Hathaway-Sycamores. The year’s event will honor Annette & Michael Madden along with the Southern California Gas Company for their tireless dedication and unyielding commitment to improving the lives of children.
About Annette and Michael Madden
Annette and Mike have been involved in the community through several organizations. Annette has been very active in the San Marino League, The Pasadena Garden Club, and Christ Child Society. She also created the Healing Through the Arts Program at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center, where original art (paintings and photographs) are donated and hung in the hospital to enhance the healing environment. Since 2002, her committee has created a permanent collection of over 800 pieces.
Annette and Mike have been long time supporters of Hathaway-Sycamores. Annette played for several years in Hathaway-Sycamores Longest Day of Golf event, and was also involved in the Sycamores 100th anniversary celebration by chairing the committee to create the centerpieces. Mike chaired the Sycamores Board from 2003 to 2005 until the merger with Hathaway Child and Family Services. He also serves on several health care boards, the Board of Regents of Providence High School and is presently on the American Hospital Association Board.

Southern California Gas Company has been a supporter of various community organizations. It continually promotes pride in the diverse communities it serves and supports Hathaway-Sycamores mission of helping people change their lives for the better on a daily basis. In the 1980’s, The Gas Company's employees started a holiday tradition of cooking and serving a pancake breakfast and providing gifts to the boys at Hathaway-Sycamores El Nido residential campus. Company trucks brought BBQ grills on-site and employees cooked outdoors in the parking lot, prior to the installation of a commercial kitchen on the campus. Over 25 years later, company employees are still keeping that tradition alive.
Sponsorships ranging from $100 to $5,000 are available as well as tickets to the event beginning at $100 per person.
