The Lincy Foundation Awards Grant to Hathaway-Sycamores
Hathaway-Sycamores was recently awarded a $20,000 grant by The Lincy Foundation. The Foundation has a long history of supporting the programs and services at Hathaway-Sycamores. This grant will support the Computer Lab Learning Center (The Learning Lab) at our Family Resource Center in Highland Park. The Learning Lab is an after-school educational assistance program that provides tutoring services to students who are struggling in school and lack the resources to get the help they need. Since 1998, The Learning Lab has offered free academic services to the at-risk youth of Highland Park. The Learning Lab is outfitted with 29 computers available for the students to use to do their school work. In charge of the Computer Lab Learning Center, is Technology Instructor, Simon Gee. Simon’s dedication to The Learning Lab and the students he serves is an inspiration to everyone who works with him. He provides the youth with life lessons in addition to the tools for academic success. Our recent Outcomes Report confirms that The Learning Lab and Simon get results, tutoring helped 87% of our youth improve their grades! Thank you to The Lincy Foundation for funding this important work.
