Program Services for Children, Families, and Communities

Hathaway-Sycamores Child and Family Services is a leader in responding to the needs of the community and in providing innovative services and programs that build on the strengths of children and families. Hundreds of staff members, including Parent Partners – parents whose children have been recipients of service – provide support to children and their families with a variety of programs and locations throughout Los Angeles County.

Prevention Services

Family Resource Centers is located in under-served communities provide after-school enrichment programs for children, individual and family counseling, adult education classes, access to community technology centers, and other preventative programs that are designed to help break the cycle of poverty and to enrich and empower families and their communities.

The Center for Grief and Loss for Children provides individual and group counseling in a supportive environment to bereaved families and hurting children after a death or separation from a loved one. The Center also provides grief and loss training for therapists, clinicians, teachers, after-school personnel, clergy, parents and volunteers.

Educational Services

School-Based Mental Health Services in local public schools offer individual, group and family therapy, crisis intervention, and assessment services for students to help them manage stress and achieve greater academic success.

Non-Public School that meets the educational needs of students with emotional and/or learning disabilities who require specialized instruction in a nonpublic school setting. Read the Executive Summary School Accountability Report Card.

Home-Based Services

In-Home Services and Full Service Partnerships offer mental health and support services that allow children with problem behaviors to remain at home. A team approach provides a comprehensive package of tools and solutions that allow children and their families to succeed on their own.

Connections is a unique collaboration with another nonprofit child welfare agency that applies a family-centered (relatives, neighbors, clergy, and community members – known as “natural supports”) team approach, allowing children to remain at home while receiving treatment. It is often referred to as “Wraparound” due to the comprehensive planning process and scope of services.

Transitional Independent Living Services for youth emancipating from the foster care system provide housing and help to acquire the skills young people need to live independently.

Therapeutic Behavioral Services provides a one-to-one therapeutic contact between a mental health provider and a child/youth for a specific short period of time.

Out-of-Home Care

Residential Services provide a unified team approach where relatives, clinicians, case workers and psychiatrists create a plan and work together to reunite children who are suffering from mental illness or emotional distress with their families.

Foster Care & Adoption Services provide therapeutic placements for children in the foster care system and adoptive families for special-needs children in Los Angeles County.

PACE (Partnerships and Community Engagement) is an after-school service that provides individual, group and family therapy, crisis support and case management, as well as vocational and therapeutic activities, for children who attend the nonpublic school.

Clinic-Based Care

Outpatient/Psychiatric Services provide easy access to mental health care and case management for both long- and short-term problems for children and families living in Los Angeles County. This program serves children from infancy to age 21 and their families.
