Meet Holiday Card Artist Daniel

Hathaway-Sycamores TAY ProgramIn 2018, Daniel and a friend arrived in Los Angeles from Arlington, Texas looking for a creative environment and a more accepting community. An avid artist, Daniel had been admitted to a prestigious L.A. art school, and was excited about his future. The two friends faced unexpected obstacles when they arrived in California and their housing plans fell through, leaving the pair scrambling. When money ran out, Daniel ended up in a homeless shelter. The surroundings were dangerous and scary, and the long commute from the shelter to his job was difficult. Daniel’s dreams for his future were fading when he had to quit school just to survive. Hope returned when the two friends found Hathaway-Sycamores’ Transitional Independent Living Program. Our team provided them with an apartment and a variety of supportive services.

“One of my favorite quotes has been that ‘The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the one who do,’ and it plays well with how much gratitude I would like to express to Hathaway-Sycamores. I thank everyone for restoring my belief that I can change the world.”

With the security of stable housing, Daniel is working and back in art school, once again looking forward to a promising life!

We are pleased to share Daniel holiday card design titled, Spread Your Joy, which so beautifully expresses his optimism for the future.
