Spring Gala Special Guests and Honorees

We are honored to have Elizabeth Hoxworth and Mark Ridley-Thomas as honorees, and  special guests Peter Daut and Davis Gaines be a part of our virtual Celebrating Children Spring Gala on Saturday, March 13th at 6:00 PM. We hope you will join us for the celebration too!

Hathaway-Sycamores Spring Gala Honoree Elizabeth Hoxworth



Elizabeth Hoxworth has been an active supporter of Hathaway-Sycamores for over 30 years, first as a volunteer and later as a board member, including two terms as Board Chair. Professionally, Elizabeth has been in the commercial real estate business for 35 years. Specializing in the retail/shopping center sector, she has worked as a developer, tenant, owner and broker. Elizabeth is married to Greg Hoxworth, a retired real estate developer. She is mother to Elle Hoxworth Brickman, who is married to Rich Brickman, and Grant Hoxworth, who is married to Beth Blackstock Hoxworth. Elle is a Senior Legislative Assistant for Assembly Member Chris Holden and Grant is the VP of Strategy at Hive Media Group. Elizabeth delights in spending time with her growing family, gardening, playing tennis, traveling and hiking in the local mountains.

Hathaway-Sycamores Spring Gala Honoree Mark Ridley-Thomas



Mark Ridley-Thomas has distinguished himself as an effective leader and advocate for structural change for residents of Los Angeles for nearly three decades. Currently serving as Councilmember for the Tenth Council District of the City of Los Angeles, Mark Ridley-Thomas was first elected to public office in 1991. In addition to serving as on the Los Angeles City Council, he has previously served in the California State Assembly, the California State Senate, and the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors. While in the Senate, he served as Chair of the California Legislative Black Caucus. At the Board of Supervisors, Mark Ridley-Thomas notably authored and led LA County’s unprecedented effort to end homelessness through Measure H. Mark Ridley-Thomas is married to Avis Ridley-Thomas, a professional mediator, Co-Founder and Director of the Institute for Non-Violence in Los Angeles. They are the proud parents of adult twin sons, Sebastian and Sinclair, and their daughter-in-law Shaunicie, plus two wonderful grandchildren, Duke Flynn (4) and Maya Yvette (1).

Peter Daut is an ABC affiliate television news anchor currently at KESQ-TV in his beloved Palm Springs. He is a multi-Emmy-Award-winning journalist, who has anchored and reported in some of the nation’s largest markets including most recently at KCBS/KCAL-TV in Los Angeles. Peter has traveled throughout the country covering major national stories, from the presidential election to the Super Bowl, natural disasters, and other events. He has also worked as an investigative reporter. He and his husband, David, live in La Quinta with their two rescue dogs, Kiwi and Coco. Peter is thrilled to return to host our Celebrating Children Spring Gala once again this year!

Special Guest 

Davis Gaines performed the title role in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera over 2,000 times during his run on Broadway, in Los Angeles and in San Francisco. Other Broadway and National Tour credits include the World Premiere of Lloyd Webber’s Whistle Down the Wind, Raoul in The Phantom of the Opera, Cornelius Hackl in Hello, Dolly! (w/Carol Channing), Camelot (w/Richard Burton) and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (w/Alexis Smith). In Southern California, appearances include Man of La Mancha, Kiss Me, Kate, SILENCE! The Musical, Lend Me A Tenor, 42nd Street, Something Rotten, Oliver!, Evita, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Spamalot, Les Miserables, The Music Man, 1776, Mack and Mabel (MTW), Parade and Sweeney Todd. Additionally, Gaines has sung for six U.S. Presidents and his voice can be heard over 30 cast recordings and compilation recordings.
