We are happy to announce that Hathaway-Sycamores’ President and CEO William Martone was recently appointed by the Alliance for Children and Families to serve on a residential-transformation expert panel. Martone is one of only five child welfare/mental health executives nationwide and the only executive from California named to the panel.

The Alliance for Children and Families assembled the expert panel as part of a residential-transformation initiative that’s being funded through a grant from the Annie E. Casey Foundation. The goal of this initiative is to help 15 nonprofit agencies around the country transition from a traditional residential-care model to a new model that emphasizes a child-and-family-centered-values approach that’s rooted in evidence-based practices. The transition of these nonprofits will be guided by the expert panel, along with a project facilitator.

Hathaway-Sycamores is a member of the Alliance for Children and Families, which is a national membership association of private, nonprofit, human-serving organizations. Martone was appointed by the Alliance as a result of his experience leading transformational change at Hathaway-Sycamores and due to his residential-care expertise.

Martone possesses more than 40 years of experience in the fields of child welfare, behavioral/mental health care, and therapeutic residential care. Martone, who became Hathaway-Sycamores’ president and chief executive office in 1994, is frequently turned to – both nationally and internationally – for his administrative expertise in relation to a broad spectrum of subjects germane to mental and behavioral health services for children, youth, young adults, and families facing serious life challenges.
