Los Altos Auxiliary Supporters Raise Glasses  and Much Needed Funds

Los Altos Wine Tasting 2015 benefiting Hathaway-Sycamores

About 200 caring members of the community spent Sunday afternoon, April 19, raising their wine glasses while simultaneously raising much needed money to help fund vital therapeutic and other support services for the youngsters – many of whom have endured unimaginable trauma – who live at Hathaway-Sycamores Child and Family Services’ El Nido residential treatment facility in Altadena.

Hosted by the Los Altos Auxiliary of Hathaway-Sycamores Child and Family Services, the annual event – which in this seventh year featured “Wines of the Pacific Northwest” – was held at the picturesque La Cañada Thursday Club in La Cañada Flintridge. Mingling under the oak-tree-shaded patio, guests enjoyed seven highly rated wines from Oregon and Washington, starting with a festive sparkling wine followed by refreshing whites and then moving on to classic reds, including elegant Pinot Noirs and rich Cabernet Sauvignons.

Los Altos Auxiliary supporters also were treated to appetizers chosen specifically to pair with the selected wines. For the third consecutive year, volunteer culinary students – under the direction of Chefs Jamie Colboth-MacLeod and Tenisha Hall from Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts Los Angeles – prepared the scrumptious hors d’oeuvres. The Los Altos Auxiliary also was extremely appreciative of a partnership forged with La Cañada Flintridge’s Gelson’s Market, which underwrote a generous portion of the food costs.

In addition to sipping and snacking, guests also had the opportunity to bid in a silent auction for an impressive array of beautifully curated baskets. Special thanks for the successful fundraiser went to co-chairs La Cañada Flintridge residents Michele Listo and Laurie Rodli.
