Essential Workers at Hathaway-Sycamores Help Foster Youth During COVID-19

I am delighted to share with you a video that Hathaway-Sycamores created to shed light on the critical work taking place right now at our El Nido residential campus for foster youth. As the COVID-19 pandemic persists, we are providing essential services to a vulnerable population of children, however, child welfare and behavioral health organizations like Hathaway-Sycamores are at risk of severe budget cuts, which will impact the care that we provide now and in the future.

The video serves as a tool to advocate for funding amidst the current budget conversations taking place in California and also on the federal level. We have shared it with our state and local legislators as well as organizations such as the California Alliance for Children and Families and the California Council of Community Behavioral Health and will be distributed to federal legislators in the month ahead.

Our El Nido campus continues to be in operation 24/7, providing essential services and ensuring the safety of our foster children. Despite the challenging times, learning, growth, and healing are happening on campus. The resilience of the youth is incredible, as is the dedication of our staff. Hearing the passion in the voices of our team members speaking about their work is truly inspirational. I could not be any prouder of them!

As you will see, this vulnerable population that has experienced anxiety, trauma and loss is counting on us for support during this crisis. With the outcome of the state’s budget process uncertain, I ask you to consider supporting Hathaway-Sycamores. Funds raised from our friends and supporters in the community help ensure that we can carry on this valuable work.

Thank you for your continued commitment to our children and our mission. Together we make a difference.

May you and your loved ones stay safe and well.
